This abstract sunset painting holds the moment the sky stops choosing one hour. A soft gray and lavender gray sky sits over one wide band of low light, orange, gold, cream and pale yellow, with a streak of rust running through it. Below it lies a dark far shoreline, and the gray water catches the gold and orange and breaks it into long vertical streaks. My signature sits at the lower right.
It is the end of a day when everything is still happening at once, the gray and the gold together, none of it waiting its turn. Six inches by nine, and horizontal, like a strip of evening.
The whole day, held in one band of light. All At Once.
I reached for the same orange and gold in First Light.
The original: This is the painting itself, soft pastel on grit paper at 6 x 9 in, made one layer at a time. The sanded surface holds each layer of color on its own, so the gold sits bright over the gray and every stroke of light on the water builds on the one before. It is the only one that exists. I hand sign every original, and I sign its certificate of authenticity with the same care.
The print: Each print begins with my original pastel painting and is made to keep everything pastel does best: the soft edges, the layered color, the texture you want to reach out and touch. This 8 x 12 in abstract sunset art print is a giclée, made with archival pigment inks on museum-quality Somerset Velvet. Every print is hand signed by me and comes with a certificate of authenticity. Only 25 will ever be made.
Details: Ships by USPS within a week, US only. All sales are final.
